This book came out quite a while ago, but I keep coming back to the images again and again. They are the ultimate symbol of a throw away society, where so much is Forgotten, But Not Gone. In case you missed it, here is a sampling of images from Spomenik by Jan Kempenaers, an Antwerp based artist who spent 3 years photographing the Spomeniks, or monuments, originally built in the 1960′s and 70′s in the former Yugoslavia to commemorate WWI, most of which have been left to crumble.
Can meaning translate purely into art? You decide.

These are fascinating!
Aren’t they?! I’ve been looking at them for over a year – don’t know why I waited so long to share. Thanks for reading! This will be part of a new series called “Forgotten, But Not Gone”
Sounds interesting to me!
