Oceguera

Yesterday I dragged the family to the Renegade Craft Fair in the Los Angeles State Historic Park.  We fueled up with some amazing veggie curry from India Jones Chow Truck and began to look around.  Amidst the hoards of letterpress, jewelry, knits, t-shirts and candles, one booth really stood out to me for its craftiness, mix of Mexican and modern design, and scored bonus points for the reuse factor.  Oceguera, by artist Theresa Oceguera, sells modern pillows and bags made from upcycled wool sweaters embellished with felted flowers, skulls, birds, cacti, extremely well-executed and all with a nod to iconic Mexican design.  In addition she sells coin purses, jewelry, song hearts and paperweights all handmade with a love that you can see.  The mix of unpredictable patterns and textures makes for truly unique, one of a kind items.  I especially loved the Christmas tree sweater pillows (see top shelf below)…my only regret is that it was a window shopping day for me and I didn’t grab one of them!

So check out the “felted art handmade from “rescued” woolen sweaters”  - You can reach Theresa at 323.679.4997 as well.  I’m going to start saving my money for the next Renegade Fair!
